"The before-and-after photos they took were mind-blowing. I didn't know the paint could look like that. Worth every penny."

Paint Correction
Multi-stage machine polishing that removes swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation from the paint.
The Service
What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the process of mechanically removing defects from the clear coat using machine polishers, compounds, and finishing polishes. Swirl marks, fine scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation are removed at the clear coat level, not filled or hidden. The result is optically correct paint that reflects light uniformly.
Correction Levels
Choose Your Level
The right level depends on the condition of the paint. We assess first, we don't upsell correction you don't need.
Light Defects
Paint Enhancement
A single polishing stage that removes light swirls and water spots, boosts gloss, and prepares the surface for ceramic coating. Ideal for newer vehicles or paint that's already in decent shape.
Removes
- Light swirl marks
- Water spots
- Minor haze
- Oxidation (early stage)
Moderate Defects
2-Stage Correction
A cut stage followed by a refining stage. Removes deeper scratches and swirls that a single pass can't touch, then refines the surface to a high gloss. The most common correction level.
Removes
- Deep swirl marks
- Buffer trails
- Moderate scratches
- Wash-induced marring
Severe Defects
Multi-Stage Correction
Three or more polishing stages for heavily defected, neglected, or track-driven paint. Takes the most time and delivers the maximum gloss possible, the biggest visual difference of any correction level. Results are measurable with a gloss meter.
Removes
- Heavy scratching
- Severe oxidation
- Deep marring
- RIDS (random isolated deep scratches)
- Maximum gloss possible
Why It Matters
Key Benefits
Defect Removal
Swirls, fine scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation are removed, not filled, not hidden.
Visible Results
Correction is checked under focused inspection lighting, the condition that shows every remaining defect.
Gloss Enhancement
Corrected paint achieves depth and gloss not achievable through washing or waxing alone.
Prepares for Protection
Correction is performed before ceramic coating or PPF, protection locks in the corrected state.
Our Process
Correction Done Right
Every job is photographed before and after. You'll see exactly what was removed.
Paint Assessment
Paint is inspected under focused lighting. Defect type and depth are assessed. Correction stages are determined.
Decontamination
Full wash, clay bar, and iron decontamination ensure the surface is clean before any polishing.
Multi-Stage Correction
Heavier compound stages remove deeper defects; lighter polish stages refine the surface back to a high gloss.
Panel Wipe
IPA wipe removes polish residue, revealing the true corrected finish.
Protection Application
Corrected paint is sealed, waxed, or ceramic coated immediately to preserve the results.
Is It Right For You?
Who Should Get This?
Right for any vehicle with visible swirl marks, scratches, or dull paint. Essential before ceramic coating, coating over defects locks them in permanently. Also right before a major event, a sale, or to restore the vehicle to a condition that reflects its value.
Client Feedback
WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
"Two-stage correction before ceramic. The process took a full day but the results speak for themselves."
"Finally fixed years of swirl damage from automatic car washes. Should have done this a long time ago."
Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Can all paint defects be corrected?
Defects within the clear coat can be fully corrected. Defects that penetrate through the clear coat into base coat (deep scratches, chips) cannot be polished away, they require respray.
Will paint correction thin my clear coat?
Yes, correction removes a microscopic amount of clear coat. We work conservatively, starting with the least aggressive combination that will remove the defect, so the paint keeps as much material as possible.
How long does paint correction take?
A light single-stage polish takes a few hours. Full multi-stage correction on a complete vehicle takes 1–2 days.
Do I need ceramic coating after paint correction?
Strongly recommended. Corrected paint is immediately vulnerable to swirling again from washing. Protection preserves what was achieved.
How do I maintain corrected paint?
Wash with proper technique using quality microfiber and pH-neutral shampoo. Avoid automatic washes with brushes.
Long Island Expertise
SERVING LONG ISLAND
Long Island's car wash culture has created a generation of vehicles with heavily swirl-marked paint. Automatic and touchless washes along the Island's commercial corridors, from Route 110 in Melville to Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge, inflict microscopic scratches with every visit. Compounded over years of Long Island ownership, these swirls turn dark-colored paint dull and milky in direct sunlight. Our paint correction process removes that contamination down to the base of the clear coat, restoring genuine gloss.
Paint correction is the foundation we apply before every ceramic coating installation at our Ronkonkoma shop. The chemistry of ceramic bonding requires clean, flat, defect-free clear coat, any swirls, oxidation, or marring that gets locked under the coating becomes permanent. We serve customers from throughout Long Island's enthusiast community and luxury vehicle market: Huntington, Smithtown, Melville, Hauppauge, Bay Shore, and Patchogue are all within easy distance of our Ronkonkoma facility.
